To honour the pilots who served with gallantry and distinction during the Great War of 1914 – 1918.
This painting depicts Canadian ace William “Billy” Bishop VC in his SE5a engaging Herman Goering in his white Fokker D.VII.
The museums’s D.VII (C-GWWI) was initially painted to represent one flown by Herman Goering, and the full scale SE5a (C-GRJC) is still in Bishop’s markings.
The Museum has many such paintings on display depicting actual events of the first air war.
